a government official who maintains a record of all JOINT-STOCK COMPANIES operating in the UK. All joint-stock companies must lodge a copy of their MEMORANDUM OF ASSOCIATION and ARTICLES OF ASSOCIATION with the Registrar when they are first formed, and larger companies must continue to file their ANNUAL REPORT AND ACCOUNTS with the Registrar each year. Any potential lender or investor can inspect the company register to gain background information about a particular company
