Sanjeev Bhatia, orthopedic sports medicine surgeon and co-director of the Northwestern Medicine Hip and
Knee Joint Preservation Center at Central DuPage Hospital.
Dr Okunola, who noted it was more cost effective to have a hip or
knee joint replacement done at the hospital, declared that doing so will also afford such patients the required follow up care after the treatment.
Material and Methods: Sixty consecutive patients with symptomatic osteoarthritis of
knee joint were included in the study.
The objective of this study was to study the effect of taping in improving physical performance of OA of
knee joint.
Considering that proper alignment could be achieved using conventional TKR based on full-length lower extremity radiography and contour and rotation could be decided using
knee joint CT, we propose that PSIs could be designed based solely on
knee joint CT and full-length lower extremity radiography.
The bones of the
knee joint that had been included were the lower part of the femur and the upper part of the tibia and fibula.
The patient was referred to the radiology department for bilateral
knee joint and hip radiography.
Although there are many reports investigating acute effects of ACL reconstruction on the contractile function of skeletal muscles around injured
knee joint (Lee et al., 2013; Shim et al., 2015; Ucar et al., 2014), there is no clear evidence justifying this threshold for ACL-resected patients.
It is characterised by swollen, inflamed, and damaged
knee joint, which ends up reducing the mobility and the quality of life of the individual who has it.
The anatomical abnormalities and variations of the intra-articular structures of the
knee joint have recently become significant because of new techniques such as arthroscopy, CT and MRI.
The condition occurs when the cartilage (which usually protects the ends of bones) in the
knee joint breaks down.
"Our study shows that a lifestyle intervention such as weight loss can slow the process of
knee joint degeneration in patients at risk for and with osteoarthritis," said lead researcher Dr Alexandra Gersing."It may slow the worsening of symptoms, such as pain and disability." Gersing is with the University of California, San Francisco's department of radiology and biomedical imaging.
