A market indicator based on the number of stocks whose last trade was an uptick or a downtick. Used as an indicator of market sentiment or psychology to try to predict the market's trend.

Tick Indicator

In technical analysis, a signal of whether to buy or sell shares in a company based on whether its last price movement was an uptick or a downtick. A tick indicator can be a signal of market sentiment, which could indicate whether the crowd is going to buy or sell. A tick indicator is subject to confirmation, especially by other tools of technical analysis.
