An
indicator that a current
trend is ending. The theory behind the soccer mom indicator states that listening to parents at their children's soccer games shows how the
economy, a
security, or a
sector has been performing. However, because soccer moms and dads (stereotypically) do not know much about future trends, their comments show that the opposite is about to occur. For example, if parents are expressing concern about high oil
prices, this may indicate that oil prices are about to decline. See also:
