Takefuji also filed a lawsuit with the Tokyo District Court demanding that Zaikai Tembo Shinsha Co., publisher of the monthly, pay 100 million yen in damages and publish an apology.
As the Zaikai Tembo story is ''absolutely unfounded and irresponsible, we decided to take a resolute attitude,'' said Osamu Sasaki, Takefuji's chief spokesman.
2, the Zaikai Tembo reported that Takefuji had incurred huge losses through a deal with Yoshihiko Kokura, a financier charged with defrauding failed Taisho Mutual Life Insurance Co.
The Zaikai Tembo also alleged Takefuji had used gangsters to threaten Kokura.
