The development of dynamic union models also allowed researchers to draw some conclusions on the relationship between union rents and wage dynamic (14): a general result states that since unions' members, namely past employees, also optimize their future employment status (an assumption which we will maintain in our model), they will extract rents, captured by union mark-ups. This behavior increases the sensitivity of wages to changes in labor productivity, as triggered by aggregate shocks.
