The court also restrained the school management from harassing the students and directed the parents to pay
tuition fees as per the revised fee structure.
Bench member Justice Aijaz-ul-Ahsan remarked the rationale behind increase in
tuition fees should be provided to the court.
Welsh students can currently be charged up to PS9,000 a year in
tuition fees by universities and colleges in Wales for a full-time degree course, and up to PS9,250 a year if they are studying in England, Northern Ireland or Scotland.
Other figures in the KHDA report showed that 53 per cent of students pay less than Dh20,000 in
tuition fees each year.
In an earlier interview, Education Secretary Leonor Briones said schools that are approved for the
tuition fee hike have to undergo "steps to ensure that the increase is reasonable and in line with DepEd guidelines which state that 70 percent of the increase must go to teachers' salaries" which will make their salaries "more competitive" to public schools.
PLANS to raise
