stockbroking

the function of buying and selling FINANCIAL SECURITIES such as STOCKS SHARES and BONDS through the STOCK MARKET by a dealer (stockbroker) who acts as an agent on behalf of clients wishing to buy or sell securities. In the UK, some dealers act solely as stockbrokers, but others combine stockbroking with JOBBING and act also as principals in ‘making a market’ in securities.
