return on shareholders' funds

an accounting measure of the rate of return that shareholders have obtained on the capital which they have invested in the business. It is calculated by dividing PROFIT after interest and tax by SHAREHOLDERS' CAPITAL EMPLOYED (issued share capital plus RESERVES).
