political fund

political fund

a fund maintained by a TRADE UNION or other body for the purpose of supporting a political party. In the UK such funds must be clearly distinct from other union budgets and union members have the right to be exempt from making payments into it. The TRADE UNION ACT 1984 requires that unions maintaining a political fund must ballot their members on its continuation at least every ten years.
