Macro

In the context of hedge funds, a style of management that takes long-term strategic bets. For example, the manager might believe that the Yen will appreciate relative to the dollar over the next six months and alter the portfolio to capture this potential profit opportunity.

For example, a hedge fund manager may purchase futures contracts or options that do not expire for six or nine months, believing that the fund can profit from trends in the meantime or that the market will move in the desired direction during that timeframe.

When a macro instruction is invoked, the current value of the program counter is pushed on the macro stack.
The factorization algorithm factorizes out code containing branches, allows macros to be defined in terms of other macros, and permits the use of two bytes for defining a macro instruction code.
The recognition by the hardware of a trap or interrupt causes entry to a macro instruction sequence, INTRAP, which is noninterruptible mode performs a context switch to supervisor mode, stores the PC, PSW, and SSW on the supervisor stack, and transfers control to the trap or interrupt handler through the vector table.
As can be seen from those figures, the processor is divided into six major sections: the instruction bus interface (including an instruction prefetch buffer), the macro instruction unit, the instruction control unit, the floating point unit, the integer execution unit, and the data bus interface.
