LU

1. ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 code for the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. This is the code used in international transactions to and from Luxembourger bank accounts.

2. ISO 3166-2 geocode for Luxembourg. This is used as an international standard for shipping to Luxembourg. Each district has its own code with the prefix "LU." For example, the code for the District of Diekirch is ISO 3166-2:LU-D.

"We were essentially spray painting individual atoms of iron, lutetium and oxygen to achieve a new atomic structure that exhibits stronger magnetic properties," said Darrell Schlom, a materials science and engineering professor at Cornell and senior author of a study on the work recently published in Nature.
David Robertson, director of research at the MU Research Reactor and professor of chemistry in the College of Arts and Science, have successfully created nanoparticles made of a radioactive form of the element lutetium. The MU scientists then covered the lutetium nanoparticles with gold shells and attached targeting agents.
Individual heavy rare earth element grades were 0.03 kg/t europium oxide, 0.27 kg/t gadolinium oxide, 0.05 kg/t terbium oxide, 0.29 kg/t dysprosium oxide, 0.06 kg/t holmium oxide, 0.15 kg/t erbium oxide, 0.02 kg/t thulium oxide, 0.11 kg/t ytterbium oxide, 0.01 kg/t lutetium oxide and 1.88 kg/t yttrium oxide.
In 2009, a proposed six-year economic plan would have banned exports of terbium, dysprosium, yttrium, thulium, and lutetium. The new plan would have allowed total rare earth exports of 35,000 tons per year, down from 53,000 tons in 2008 and roughly 66,000 tons in 2005.
Some specific areas discussed include polyester materials with low specific superficial electric resistance, the effect of organic and inorganic additives on the synthesis of lutetium silicates, similarity of zeolite micropore structures, new complex compounds of cobalt with cyanuric acid, frontal copolymerization of lactams, and oscillatory and spin regimes at frontal solidification of epoxy combinations in the flow.
A PET scan was done using 21 mCi of 18F-FDG and a dedicated scanner equipped with lutetium oxyorthosilicate (LSO) crystal (Siemens ACCEL, Siemens Medical Solutions, Malvern, PA).
