We report here on a patient with a littoral cell
angioma of the spleen who displayed a severe KMS with complex diagnosis.
In conclusion if there is splenic vascular proliferation, haemangiomatosis should be taken into consideration as well as lymphangioma, littoral cell
angioma, haemangioendothelioma and primary angiosarcoma, peliosis of the spleen and hamartoma.
The differential diagnosis for indeterminate solid masses includes hamartoma, lymphangioma, littoral cell
angioma, and angiosarcoma.
Vascular neoplasms are the most common primary nonlymphoid, nonhematopoietic neoplasms of the spleen, including hemangioma, lymphangioma, hamartoma, littoral cell
angioma, angioendothelioma, and angiosarcoma.
Immunohistochemistry studies were consistent with littoral cell
These include littoral cell
angiomas, hemangiomas, lymphangiomas, SHs, hemangioendotheliomas, and angiosarcomas.

Of the 15 cases, infarcted spleen in 6 patients (40%), pseudocyst in 4 patients (26.7%), abscess in 2 patients (13.2%), epithelial cyst in 1 patient (6.7%) and lymphangioma in 1 patient (6.7%) and littoral cell
angioma in 1 patient (6.7%) were diagnosed.
(1) Of the various vascular tumors of the spleen, splenic hamartoma and littoral cell
angioma occur only in the spleen.
