iShares

A family of exchange-traded funds that tracks various stock or bond markets. iShares can be traded like stocks or other securities and operate much like mutual funds but without any net asset value. The largest issuer of exchange-traded funds, iShare funds are traded on several stock exchanges globally.

iShares

Exchange-traded funds with portfolios based on a series of stock indexes including the S&P indexes, the Dow Jones indexes, and the Russell indexes. iShares are also available for MSCI foreign indexes. Shares of each fund represent proportional ownership of individual stocks that make up the index on which the fund is based. iShares were developed by Barclays Global Investors and are mostly traded on the American Stock Exchange.

As per Yahoo, Finance and Karachi Exchange as of May 9, 2016, Global X MSCI Pakistan (NYSE : Pak), 12 months performance was 20 % while 5-year performance was 332% (KSE Index in PKR), whereas iShares China (NYSE:FXI) recorded 9.80 % and 16 % respectively and iShares S and P India 50 (NASDAQ: INDY) registered 12.77 % and 33.0 % respectively.
The SPDR (S&P depository receipts) S&P 500 ETF posted $10 billion of net deposits, while the iShares and Vanguard ETFs tracking the S&P index both attracted more than $2 billion of net new cash.
iShares, the exchange-traded fund (ETF) business of BlackRock (BLK), recently launched the iShares MSCI Qatar Capped ETF (QAT) and iShares MSCI UAE Capped ETF (UAE) on the NASDAQ.
Through the purchase, BlackRock adds funds based in Switzerland, Ireland and Luxembourg, which complement its existing ETF platform, iShares. They will operate under the iShares brand and will start trading as iShares ETFs on the exchanges where such funds are listed, the buyer said.
