Hung Up
Describing a situation in which an investor owns securities that are worth significantly less than they were when the investor purchased them. For example, an investor may have bought a stock at $10 per share, which may later fall to $2 per share. When an investor is hung up, he/she has the option of either holding the securities in hopes that they will rise, while still risking further losses, or selling them and locking in the current losses.
