any FINANCIAL SECURITIES that have a predetermined fixed INTEREST RATE attached to their PAR VALUE, for example, TREASURY BILLS, DEBENTURES and PREFERENCE SHARES. Debentures with a par value of £100 at 5% will pay out a fixed rate of interest of £5 per annum until the expiry of the debenture, that is, the date of redemption. See BONDS.
