In the deepest snows, the path which I used from the highway to my house, about half a mile long, might have been represented by a meandering dotted
line, with wide intervals between the dots.
The horses were grazing close to the edge of the forest in which Nobs and I were concealed, while the ground between us and them was dotted
with clumps of flowering brush which offered perfect concealment.
As its name imports, it is of an exceedingly rich, mottled tint, with a bestreaked snowy and golden ground, dotted
with spots of the deepest crimson and purple.
