The YEARS study provides a high level of evidence that a new, simple
diagnostic algorithm can reliably and efficiently exclude PE and decrease the need for CTPA by 14% (absolute difference; 95% CI, 12-16) when compared with using the Wells' rule and fixed D-dimer threshold of < 500 ng/mL.
Diagnostic algorithms for the diagnosis of CF in SA are shown in Figs 1 and 2.
The 2016 WHO update combines histology with tumor genetic information to create a specific
diagnostic algorithm (Figure 1).
In our case for example, semiological features of pulmonary infarction on CT were difficult to interpret, leading to a complicated
diagnostic algorithm. Ground-glass attenuation can precede typical segmental consolidation and is suggestive for incomplete pulmonary infarction, but may be confused with inflammatory pulmonary lesions.
An article by Cutts et al (22) presents a
diagnostic algorithm beginning with ultrasonography.
In December 2012, by way of preparation, a PE
diagnostic algorithm was distributed to all hospital clinicians, outlining the combined role of the validated modified Wells score (Table 1) and the quantitative D-dimer test in defining the pre-test probability of PE (Fig.
The new
diagnostic algorithm proposed two states of preclinical AD: an asymptomatic at-risk state for AD and pre-symptomatic AD.
Gestational diabetes mellitus: Simplifying the international association of diabetes and pregnancy
diagnostic algorithm using fasting plasma glucose.
Many authors recommend doing ultrasound and diagnostic cystoscopy, with or without contrast studies, as initial diagnostic studies for microscopic hematuria.[sup.4,5] Many studies[sup.6,7] have shown that computed tomography (CT) urography, very frequently, miss lesions smaller than 1 cm, that is why cystoscopy should be a part of the initial
diagnostic algorithm.
Participants provide their
diagnostic algorithm. The remainder of the framework is provided by the competition organizers.
Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis identified sensitivity and specificity at different cut-off points for the
diagnostic algorithm using the total score (Figure 1).
South Africa, one of the high-burden countries, has adopted these tests in the TB
diagnostic algorithm. In other countries lack of diagnostic capacity has hampered the effective response to these improved TB assays.
