- the sending out of finished goods for distribution and sale. Such finished goods can be dispatched from STOCK or as particular customers' orders are manufactured.
- the selection of JOBS or batches of a product to be completed in a PRODUCTION schedule. Various dispatch rules can be used to select which particular job should be completed next from a queue of jobs awaiting completion, such as ‘first come first served’, ‘random selection’, ‘minimum processing time’ (starting with the job which has the shortest machine processing time) etc.
