cycle time

the time which is required at each work station (machine or operative) to complete the workload allocated to it. Cycle times are important in PRODUCTION LINE or ASSEMBLY LINE balancing to ensure the smooth flow of raw materials, components and work in progress from workstation to workstation, thereby avoiding bottlenecks and idle periods.
