A waterway for rainwater or other runoff;may be a ditch or a pipe.If ditches along the side of a road channel runoff,then property owners must install culverts under driveways in order to prevent the formation of dams. One must usually obtain highway or road department permission to install a culvert because the location will generally be in a road right-of-way.
