The DEM results were transformed into contour line maps to compare the results in more detail, and to set the intervals and baselines of these maps to be the same as those of the original
contour map (Figure 14).
All extracted special runs are added into the
contour map layer; then, some of the contour lines gaps can be repaired automatically (Figures 8(g), 9(g), and 10(g)).
The results of the calculations of the probability of conformity of the defined condition (in our case, the condition of compressive strength of soil-binder mixtures, according to formula (2)), have been developed graphically in the form of statistical
contour maps (Maindonald, Braun 2010), with the use of R software.
Figure 17 shows electromagnetic force
contour map of interaction between working air gap and armature radius.
The raw magnetic data obtained were plotted as 2D and 3D magnetic
contour maps using Surfer 10 (Figures 4 and 5).
In the second task children were handed a
contour map of Europe.
The groundwater
contour map (Figure-4) for the year 1990 (Nov.) shows the height of water table varies from 21.83 to 29.5 mt.
From the
contour map, potential noise hazardous areas within the facility are identified by comparing their noise levels with the permissible noise exposure limits.
The water table
contour maps are used in deciphering the groundwater flow direction, gradient and area of recharge and discharge.
A detailed description of the transient airborne transmission was obtained based on the
contour maps of tracer gas propagation from its release source to other locations.
If the area is larger, a
contour map is developed and the instrument is placed on top of the vehicle with magnets.
ONE of the characters in Brian Friel's play Translations, makes the following observation: 'It can happen that a civilisation can be imprisoned in a linguistic contour which no longer matches the landscape of fact.' Whatever the historical accuracy of this remark (the play examines the struggle for dominance between English and Irish in nineteenth-century Ireland), the image of language as a
contour map, a network of intricate lines capable of expressing every nuance of undulation in the underlying landscape of reality is, I think, an appealing one.
