Automatic Dialer

A computer program that calls numbers and plays a pre-recorded message. This is used in marketing, often in political campaigns. For example, an automatic dialer may play a message from a celebrity endorser. Legislation limits the use of automatic dialers. See also: Dialing for dollars.
