resident manager

resident manager

A person who supervises an apartment complex or self-storage facility while living on the premises. The practice usually provides excellent management and early detection of problems, but can have some drawbacks, including the possible need to go through an eviction proceeding if the manager is fired or quits and refuses to leave the dwelling. In addition, there may be overtime pay issues if the manager is “on call”for emergencies outside normal business hours. From a psychological standpoint, some resident managers report burnout because, even during their off-hours,they are never truly free of the tenants and the need to interact with them.
