environmental audit
an assessment of the environmental impact of a firm or public agency in the process of supplying goods or services. This usually involves an independent investigation of the way in which the firm or public agency organizes itself to supply products and the resulting environmental costs. Environmental audits are often undertaken with a view to reducing or eliminating POLLUTION associated with the production, packaging or distribution of products.
