Tokyo Round

A global discussion on the role of tariffs that took place over several years and resulted, in 1980, in the Tokyo Declaration, which called for a significant reduction in tariffs over the next eight years. It also led to the adoption of an agreement on the appropriate times to use countervailing duties. See also: General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade.
