On Balance

1. In equities, the state of trade in which there are a roughly equal number of buy orders and sell orders on a given trading day. This indicates stability in the market. See also: Imbalance of orders.

2. Leftover buy and sell orders that are dealt with either before or after the trading day. In this situation, brokers attempt to find a buyer or seller for the on balance equity.
