International Finance Corporation (IFC)

A corporation owned by the World Bank that produces a number of well-known stock indexes for emerging markets. Its major role is to provide financing for projects in less developed countries.

A division of the World Bank that provides loans for private companies and projects in developing countries. Founded in 1956, it seeks to promote private-sector investment in the developing world.
