Equity Capital Markets Department
Equity Capital Markets Department
The department of an
investment bank that deals with
traders who work on
exchange floors. Equity capital markets departments exist to prevent traders from dealing with the ordinary investment banking divisions, which may accidentally breach confidential information. This helps promote stability in the
market, protects the bank's deals with clients and prevents it from running afoul of
insider trading laws.
