Chief Secretary to the Treasury

A major position in HM Treasury, ranking after the prime minister and the chancellor of the exchequer. The chief secretary is responsible for coordinating with other departments in formulating the national budget, negotiating on pay for public sector workers, procuring materials and contractors from the private sector, and managing other similar issues.
