Bilateral Clearing Agreement
Bilateral Clearing Agreement
An agreement in which two governments agree to allow
trade between them up to a certain
value for a given period of time. A bilateral clearing agreement limits the amount of trade that can take place under its terms; for that reason, it is considered
inefficient by advocates of
free trade.
