Bell Cow

Bell Cow

A retail item that sells well even though its price far exceeds the cost to the producer. For example, a cup of coffee at a cafe may sell for $3 even though it costs only 25 cents to make. If the cafe is nevertheless successful, the coffee may be considered a bell cow. See also: Cash cow.
