Baseload

The minimum amount of power an electrical or other utility company must put out in a 24-hour time period to meet estimated demand from its customers. Many companies designate baseload power plants to put out only the baseload because it is less expensive and often safer. These companies also maintain other plants to provide for higher demand as it arises.
