Banking Power

The ability of a bank to conduct activities. Banking power is given by the appropriate government agency. Activities permitted under banking powers are regulated; they may include retail banking or commercial banking, as well as permissible nonbank activities such as insurance, trading on the secondary market for mortgages, or investment banking.
