A.P. Giannini
An American
banker who founded
Bank of America. He established the Bank of Italy in San Francisco in 1904, which he
merged with the Bank of America, Los Angeles, to form what became the Bank of America. He was one of the first bankers to offer services to the middle class; he was also an early pioneer of
branch banking. He lived from 1870 to 1949.
