ZWL
ISO 4217 code for the Zimbabwean dollar. The new code replaced the old code (ZWD) in February 2009, when the government of Zimbabwe dropped 12 zeros from the dollar in response to hyperinflation. However, inflation continued, and, in April, the government permitted Zimbabweans to use any currency for transactions (which most people were doing anyway). This effectively ended the Zimbabwean dollar.
