ISO 4217 code for the British West Indies dollar, which was the currency of British Guiana and various British possessions in the Caribbean between 1935 and 1955. Starting in 1949, it was pegged to the British pound at a ratio of $4.80 to one pound. It was replaced by different currencies, but mainly the East Caribbean dollar.
