Vara

1. A Portuguese measure of length approximately equivalent to 1.1 meters. It became obsolete after Lusophone countries adopted the metric system in the 19th century.

2. A Spanish measure of length approximately equivalent to 0.84 meters. It is largely obsolete, but is still used in the sale of lumber in Costa Rica.
