timber investment management organization (TIMO)

A group that aids institutional investors in locating and managing timberland.The industry grew after legislation in the 1970s that encouraged institutional investors to diversify their portfolios. A 2002 study by Yale's Program on Private Forest Certification showed that approximately $14.4 billion of timberland was managed by TIMOs.
