Threshold of Divergence

In the European Monetary System, a series of steps by which a currency can exit the EMS. Under the threshold of divergence, steps other than a naked intervention by the central bank must be taken to attempt to stabilize a currency under pressure. It should be noted that no similar system exists for countries already in the eurozone.
