Byte

A unit of digitally stored information. A byte is the number of bits (or the 0 or 1 characters in binary code) needed to print a single letter or other character of text.

byte

a group of eight bits (zeros/ones) used to represent a single number or letter in a COMPUTER. The capacity of a computer is often measured in terms of thousands of bytes (K), for example 640K; or millions of bytes, for example 20 megabytes.
