list price
the published PRICE of a good or service. The actual price paid by the buyer is often less than this because suppliers are prepared to offer cash and trade DISCOUNTS. Many suppliers specify RECOMMENDED RETAIL PRICES for their products, but again the actual price paid can be much less than that recommended, depending upon the strength of retail competition.
