Sudanese Pound

The currency of Sudan. It was introduced in 1956, replacing the Egyptian pound. The pound was itself replaced by the Sudanese dinar in 1992, but it continued to circulate in Southern Sudan while the dinar was used only in the North. Both currencies were replaced by a second Sudanese pound in 2007. Both Arabic and English appear on notes, but coins are minted only in Arabic.
