Flex-aware signal and power integrity analysis, enabling accurate modeling of interconnect as it passes through different stack-up regions.
Another very common rigid-flex circuit board stack-up is the integration of a ZIF tail integrated into the rigid-flex.
Tools providing a pictorial view of the stack-ups based on different substrates allow designers to visualize the layout stack-up intent as it is being defined (FIGURE 4).
The multitude of components they contain generate tolerance stack-ups that are difficult to control.
Based on the favored stack-up and the PCB layout demands, a proper impedance calculation method should be chosen.
In addition to the expensive LTCC technology used, embedding air into the stack-up increases the fabrication complexity and cost even further.
The longer stroke provides great benefit in compensating for tolerance stack-ups, and combined with the increased height, makes them an excellent solution for elevated board stacking applications.
The analysis, specifically tolerance stack-ups (the cumulative effect of individual part tolerances in an assembly), is critical to addressing mechanical fit and performance, as well as catching design flaws before investing in expensive tooling.
Continuing the trend on the module level often results in multiple ICs interfacing to a common heat sink, leaving a variety of air gap thicknesses to fill in order to dissipate the heat, in ever-thinner stack-ups. Compounding this challenge is pressure to reduce manufacturing/materials costs where varying gap widths can have a tolerance of up to [+ or -] 30 percent.
The integrated touch sensor array and solar cell stack-ups may include electrodes that are used both for collecting solar energy and for sensing on a touch sensor array.
