MUR

ISO 4217 code for the Mauritian rupee. It was introduced in 1874, replacing the Mauritian dollar and the Indian rupee. It was pegged at par to the Indian rupee until 1934, when it changed its peg to the British pound (the currency to which the Indian rupee was itself pegged). Mauritius maintained the peg to the pound until 1979.
