Brazilian Identity Card
A card containing the name, photograph and birth date of an individual, along with his/her parents' names, his/her signature and his/her thumbprint. While this card is not legally required, one must present it to buy real estate, obtain a driver's license and apply for a job, among other things. The cards are issued by state governments, but they are accepted in every Brazilian state.
