Close monitoring of trading patterns in a company's stock by senior managers to uncover unusual buying activity that might signal a takeover attempt. See: Shark watcher.

Radar Alert

A practice that a publicly-traded company uses to identify a possible hostile takeover. For example, a company may monitor for large purchases of shares by a single person or group of persons. Radar alert may give a company time to prepare or implement an anti-takeover strategy.
