Platinum

A rare and valuable metal. Platinum is used in jewelry and electronics. Platinum is traded as a commodity on various security exchanges. Platinum is volatile like other commodities, but generally maintains a relatively high price.

The turbellarian Urastoma cyprinae (Platyhelminthes: Urastomidae) associated with natural and commercial populations of Mytilus galloprovincialis and Mytilus californianus from Baja California, NW Mexico.
We stained platyhelminthes (Cestoda) with Meyer's paracarmin, dehydrated through a graded ethanol series, cleared in methyl salicylate, and mounted in Canada balsam.
However, some taxa (e.g., Brachiopoda, Nemertea, Platyhelminthes, and Porifera) were identified only to phylum level because no thorough identification keys exist for Canadian Arctic waters; we acknowledge that this study has probably underestimated the richness of these taxa.
