Pagafes

Pagafes

Federal debt securities in Mexico that were denominated in U.S. dollars. Pagafes were considered lower risk than cetes, which were denominated in pesos, because of the uncertainty regarding the peso's stability. As a result, in the early 1990s, pagafes carried lower interest rates than cetes.
