the extent to which a product fulfils its function over a period of time.

The reliability of a product depends upon its design characteristics, the quality of materials and components embodied within it and the care with which it is made and assembled.

A product's reliability is an important part of its performance in use and thus affects the appeal of the product to customers and the likelihood of their buying it. See BRAND LOYALTY. See QUALITY CONTROL, FAILURE RATE CURVE, PARALLEL SYSTEM.

Furthermore, the MTTF can be calculated as the integral of the reliability function:

Analyzing the relation of software reliability parameters to the committed component count F = 10 from the value of the conditional probability of the failure in the software components, the scaling-down of the mean time to failure MTTF is marked due to increasing of unconditional probability of the failure in the component (Figure 9).
RFMD's GaN technology demonstrated MTTF = 30 million hours at a channel temperature of 200 degrees Celsius at Vds=48V and at a power density of 7.
The MTTF of a MIN is defined as the expected time elapsed before some source is disconnected from some destination [7].

Analyzing this formula it can be said that we want MTTF to be big and MTTR to be small or in other words, an effective way to increase a system's availability is to improve its maintainability by minimising the downtime (Stapelberg, 2008).
MTBF (mean time between failure) and MTTF (mean time to failure) were variables used to measure the reliability of parts and systems.
A low cost 29 X 13 X 4 mm metal housing with a bolt-down flange allows these devices to maintain a low thermal resistance and thus achieve an MTTF of over 100 years.
By eliminating individual pumping units and utilizing efficiencies of production of similar standard pumps, it is possible to increase pump reliability up to 100,000 hours MTTF.
